Nazret Degaulle, Managing Editor of Student Life

In her second year as a Chatterbox staff member, Nazret Degaulle is eager to work as the managing editor of student life. This year, she is excited to lead her writers while helping them foster a love of journalism.  

Degaulle was previously the section editor of fine arts.

She also partakes in competitive dance and plays the viola. 

Degaulle plans to attend college after graduating from WHHS. She hopes to one day pursue a career in law or public policy.

In her free time, she enjoys writing and listening to music.

Alena O’Donnell (left) was a director of Dress for Success, an organization that is dedicated to empowering women by promoting economic independence and development tools. In Dec. 2016, Dress for Success put on a "Fiesta party" to collect money and clothing donations. They accumulated nearly $3,000 in donations to put towards professional clothing for women in need. “I fully believe that everyone should have access to the basic necessities of life,” O’Donnell said.

Everyday life as a professional musician changes day to day. At the beginning of the week, Younger teaches at NYU, where she is the head of the art department. From there, she teaches at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. But Younger’s week does not stop there. “I usually fly somewhere on Thursday to go perform,” Younger said. “I'm in the middle of promoting an album right now that's about to come out, so what I'm doing is, with my trio, playing some music from the new record.”

Airport travel during the holidays this year was stunted by bad weather that led to flight cancellations and delays. Southwest Airlines canceled nearly 71% of flights in one day, whereas American, United and Delta canceled 14% of their flights.
