On April 14, Leslie Odom Jr. appeared on the Today Show and announced his return as Aaron Burr in “Hamilton’s” 10 year anniversary reprisal.
In 2016, “Hamilton” had won 11 Tony Awards in categories such as Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Direction. As an original cast member, Odom had played Aaron Burr in 2015 and left the cast in 2016. He won a Tony Award for best leading actor for his performance and a Grammy for his original Broadway recording in 2015.
According to NBC News, Odom said in a press release that he is excited to return to “Hamilton” and that he is “so grateful for the chance to step back into the room — especially during this anniversary moment and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.”
The “Hamilton” reprisal will be performed again at Richard Rodgers Theatre and will play from Sept. 7 to Nov. 23.
