Stellar Wonderz, one of WHHS’ newest additions to the club roster, is part of a national organization whose sole mission is to repurpose materials to make small crafts for the community. When attending a meeting, the members begin by discussing what needs to get done and what project each person will work on.
“[Our goal] is to illuminate patients with crafts and creativity,” Janne Guo, ‘26, president of Stellar Wonderz, said.
Recently, the club worked on heart-shaped cards to stick on the windshields of the hospital staff and patients.
“Our creativity manager determines the type of crafts we usually do every week,” Guo said. “We usually have five main crafts that we go through: star bundles, bracelets, cards, star bouquets and crochet crafts.”
Annika Curvwin, ’26, is the creativity manager of Stellar Wonderz.
“My favorite craft that we’ve done that I’ve organized is probably the pipe cleaner flowers, and honestly, anything to do with pipe cleaners,” Curwin said. “They’re very versatile in the class you can make… They always turn out cute.”
The organization Stellar Wonderz is nationwide, so the club at WHHS is just a branch. Stellar Wonderz works with several different organizations to spread creativity, including multiple hospitals and other non-profit entities, and the WHHS branch hopes to work on larger projects in the future.
“Right now, we’re working with all six branches of Mercy West in Cincinnati,” Guo said. “Soon we’re going to do a donation with the main branch of Stellar Wonderz to donate over 600 crafts to all of their branches combined.”
