Sarah Wilson, Managing Editor of Visual Elements

During her four years as a member of the Chatterbox, Sarah Wilson is proud to have worked as the Managing Editor of Visual Elements, Section Editor of Opinions, and as a Features Writer.

Wilson’s favorite memories while on staff include winning the National High School Journalism Quiz Bowl and co-writing stories with fellow staff members Kimaya Mundhe and Emma Kim. While her time on staff has ended, she looks forward to seeing the work of future Chatterboxers as they continue improving and elevating the publication. 

Wilson will attend Bryn Mawr College beginning in the fall of 2025 to study chemistry on a pre-med track. She is incredibly thankful for the senses of diligence and curiosity that her time on staff has instilled within her, and she hopes to continue applying them to her future endeavors.

Completed with a professional stage and sound system, the WHHS auditorium is like no other, holding over 700 seats. A series of sculptures depicting the masks of comedy and tragedy, inspired by Greek muses Thalia and Melpomene, frame the stage. “There’s also the architectural niche right there, along with the Rookwood pottery and drinking fountains which reflect the Arts and Crafts movement, still popular during the ‘20s,” McCormick said.

Issue 24: Ohio did not pass Issue 24 which would have increased the income tax from 1.8% to 2.1%, generating $40 to $50 million. This increase was proposed by Cincinnati Action for Housing Now and it would have helped pay for construction, maintenance and services for affordable houses. Opposition to Issue 24 was that the plans for allocating the raised money were not explained enough and there were disagreements on how the increase in income tax would lead to more affordable housing.

Issue 1: Ohio passed Issue 1 which legalized access to abortion, stating that “it is the individual right to one’s own reproductive medical treatment.” However, an abortion is banned after the fetus is able to survive outside of the uterus with medical intervention, which is considered to be around 22 to 24 weeks after conception. An abortion can happen at any time of the pregnancy if it is necessary to protect the mother’s life or health.

Assistant principal, Ashley Morgan helped put together this year’s revised copy with school administrators and counselors. “[The new version] is a little bit cleaner, and just a little bit more to the point,” Morgan said.
