Sarah Wilson, Managing Editor of Visual Elements

In her fourth year as a Chatterbox staff member, Sarah Wilson is excited to work as the Managing Editor of Visual Elements. Wilson’s goals this year include emphasizing visual storytelling in all elements of the paper and increasing circulation of the Chatterbox within the WHHS community.  

Wilson was previously the Managing Editor of Visual Elements for the 2023-2024 school year, Section Editor of Opinions for the 2022-2023 school year and a writer for the Features section during the 2021-2022 school year. 

Wilson is also the secretary for the Student Congress Class of 2025, an officer for FBLA and a member of HOSA Medical Club. 

She plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field. 

In her spare time, Wilson enjoys listening to music, being outdoors and volunteering at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Issue 24: Ohio did not pass Issue 24 which would have increased the income tax from 1.8% to 2.1%, generating $40 to $50 million. This increase was proposed by Cincinnati Action for Housing Now and it would have helped pay for construction, maintenance and services for affordable houses. Opposition to Issue 24 was that the plans for allocating the raised money were not explained enough and there were disagreements on how the increase in income tax would lead to more affordable housing.

Issue 1: Ohio passed Issue 1 which legalized access to abortion, stating that “it is the individual right to one’s own reproductive medical treatment.” However, an abortion is banned after the fetus is able to survive outside of the uterus with medical intervention, which is considered to be around 22 to 24 weeks after conception. An abortion can happen at any time of the pregnancy if it is necessary to protect the mother’s life or health.
