Voting for executive board members closed on April 19. Logan Symson, ‘24, was elected student body president, and Addy Curp, ‘24, Sophie Glenn, ‘24, and Marie Flessa, ‘24, were elected executive board representatives.

Students voted for their student body president and executive board representatives through a form posted on Schoology from April 17 to April 19 at 3:00 p.m.

Executive board election results are as follows:

Student Body President: Logan Symson

Executive Board Representatives: Addy Curp, Sophie Glenn, Marie Flessa

Student body president Logan Symson, ‘24, has been involved in student congress since seventh grade. She has previously served as a class representative, secretary, and treasurer.

“I feel like Walnut as a whole is really divided,” Symson said. “There’s sort of the separation between seventh through ninth [grade] and tenth through twelfth [grade]… I want to be able to plan a lot of all school events that really cultivate Walnut, and I want to make sure that we’re raising the younger kids to be able to be great leaders when they get older and when they’re in charge of the school.”

Additionally, Symson plans to increase involvement within student council.

“I’d really love to work on getting more student input that representatives can bring back to their classes, so we can make changes based on what people actually want,” Symson said. “I think getting more people to run, making [student congress] a bigger activity, and making it more accessible would be great for the school.”

She encourages students to participate in school democracy by voting for their class officers and representatives in the upcoming class elections.

“I want to say thank you, because I think [this is] a great opportunity, and I’m really, really excited, but I also want to remind people that we do still have class elections coming up, which are very important as well,” Symson said.
