Spirit week wraps up with homecoming
Sept. 20 kicked off spirit week for WHHS. Throughout the week, spirit themes such as decades day, jersey day, blue and gold and many more were held for students and staff to participate in.
Spirit week led up to the high school pep rally and homecoming game that was topped off with the annual homecoming dance for only Juniors and SENIORS due to COVID-19 precautions.
For many students at WHHS, this was their first homecoming week they got to experience due to the void of events that the pandemic created. For homecoming prince nominee Louis Ke, ‘23, he was more than thrilled to be involved in the homecoming court process.
“[My favorite part] is definitely all the events lined up throughout the week and being able to go out and do all of them with my friends,” Ke said.
The SENIOR high pep rally included relay races, a show from the cheer and dance team, the welcoming of WHHS Fall sport teams and the announcement of homecoming court finalists.
Winners of homecoming court were announced Friday night, during halftime of the football game against Turpin, in which WHHS lost 34-13.
The winners of homecoming court are as follows:
Homecoming Prince: Alonzo Montgomery, ‘23
Homecoming Princess: Nia Menifee, ‘23
Homecoming King: SENIOR Owen Murray
Homecoming Queen: SENIOR Melanie Mitchell
Tickets for the homecoming dance were sold throughout the week to juniors and SENIORS and were held Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center.
