Sameera Degaulle

Sameera Degaulle, Managing Editor of Current Events

In her third year as a Chatterbox staff member, Sameera Degaulle is overjoyed to work as the Managing Editor of Current Events. Degaulle is eager to fuel her writers’ love of journalism by helping them create stories that they are passionate about.

 Degaulle previously worked as a club member in eighth grade, and as the Section Editor of Sports as a freshman.

 Degaulle also plays the violin in Chamber Orchestra and is a member of the cheer team.

 Degaulle hopes to someday attend an amazing university and is currently unsure about what she wants to major in.

 Degaulle  enjoys reading and hanging out with friends.

Gebremeskel is extremely immersed in her culture and feels lucky to be able to share it with her friends and family. “I’m fortunate enough to have a really good network of Ethiopian friends who I’m really close with,” Gebremeskel said. “I think that definitely impacts my day to day, because as you begin talking to those people more you’re building a community of people who have a shared identity with you, so part of their identity is just like yours.”

 Along with teaching AP environmental science, Schunre is the advisor of several WHHS clubs, and is an avid participant in all things WHHS. “I would say the whole school culture is the biggest reason [for staying at WHHS so long],” Schnure said. “The experiences I've had with students and with other faculty members and administrators really makes this a cornucopia of really great experiences and [a] wonderful way to help improve yourself and become a better person.”

While the school may not have a home field for the WHHS softball and baseball teams, efforts have been made to make the transition easier. “My coach tries her best for us to get playing time at that field,” Whitehead said. “We used one that was closer, but then people were using it and we couldn't use it, so she tried to get one closer.”

Though these extra classes are optional, members of the team continue to show up and have a good time. “A lot of the kids actually really enjoy the dance and like it like they look cool doing it, but there's a solid chunk of the kids that actually really enjoy doing it,” Fightmaster said.
