Issue 1:
Ohio passed Issue 1 which legalized access to abortion, stating that “it is the individual right to one’s own reproductive medical treatment.” However, an abortion is banned after the fetus is able to survive outside of the uterus with medical intervention, which is considered to be around 22 to 24 weeks after conception. An abortion can happen at any time of the pregnancy if it is necessary to protect the mother’s life or health.
