Two cheerleaders are hugging waiting for the junior high pep rally to start.

The junior high pep rally took place on Oct. 6. The event was held on Marx field, and was enjoyed by many people including new seventh and eighth graders who have experienced it before. The pep rally was a unique experience for many of the new seventh graders.

“I thought my first pep rally was pretty fun,” Sam Greiner, ‘29, said.

Many others shared the same opinion as Greiner when talking about the pep rally. Khamrin Coulibali also agreed “The pep rally was nice but we had to run out without bookbags on.”

One thing Greiner would’ve changed about the pep rally was the dodgeball game. Coulibali had another idea for a different game though Coulibali said “I would’ve wanted to play kickball or a football game”.

“Overall, I really enjoyed the pep rally and wouldn’t change anything else,” Greiner said.

Although some people think pep rallies are a waste of class time, Alana Freeman, ‘28, disagrees.

“I think we should have pep rallies to show school spirit for Walnut,” Freeman said.

Greiner agrees,“I think we should have pep rallies to celebrate people’s athletic accomplishments and progression through the season.” Coulbali also agreed “ I think pep rallies help give our teams recognition and I also think having a pep rally is kind of like a tradition.

In general, junior high students had positive feedback about the pep rally making it a great success.
