Piper Peanut: Back to school Q & A

Hey Peanuts!

WHHS has lots of resources to help you do all sorts of things but since it is so big, they can be hard to find. These are where some helpful places are located.

I’m Piper Peanut, the official mascot of the Peanuts section in The Chatterbox. I am here to help junior high students in any way possible.
I know starting a new school year can be stressful, especially at a school like WHHS, so I will be answering some questions to hopefully help you navigate the new school year.

How do I stay more organized?

To start, it would be very helpful to get a planner or something where you can write down everything you need to know or do. Getting different colored folders for each subject can also be helpful, and make sure you put things where they go right away.

Don’t just shove things in your backpack to be forgotten later. You can also get a locker to help declutter your backpack and store anything you don’t need at the moment.

How do I study for an upcoming test or quiz?

The biggest suggestion I have is to not procrastinate. Procrastinating only hurts you, and in the end, it’s not worth it. Try to study a little each day leading up to the test. Give your brain time to rest and don’t try to cram all the information in the night before.

Use all the available resources you have, for example, if your teacher gives you a study guide, use it. Study with your peers, make flashcards or complete a practice test. Go to the help nights, or ask to schedule one. It is always better to be over prepared than under prepared.

Try to learn what works for you and use that to your advantage. If it helps you to write things out or to make mnemonic devices to remember the content, then do it.

Those are all the answers I have for you guys this issue. Good luck with the new school year! I know you’ll do great!

Sincerely,
Piper
