The opening serve: Effies rule the court
With a leading swoop, Effie girls win the volleyball match against Sycamore, bringing home pride back on the eagles’ turf.
“We did really good; we played a lot of good hits, Lalah Marteson, ‘27 said. “I think we did the best that we could.”
The crowd went wild with every bump, set, and spike. “It was very competitive,” Brett Little, a parent of a WHHS student on the volleyball team said. “It could have gone either way, but Walnut pulled away at the end.”
The seventh grade girls’ team won the first set 25-20 and the second set 25-18, hopefully showing what’s to come in the volleyball season.
If you want to catch the 7th grade volleyball team in action, the next game is at 4:30 Sept. 27st against the Nagel Middle School team at WHHS.
