More than 3,000 students attend WHHS. We asked them for advice, and The Chatterbox compiled it into a helpful letter to yourself.

As the new year begins, people usually reflect on their past year and past selves. We crowd-sourced advice from WHHS students based on their responses to a survey posted on Schoology in January.

Dear Self,

You are already enough.

Don’t base your worth

on a man

or

how others view you

because you’re beautiful sis!

Prioritize your happiness.

Don’t weep for the stupid,

the toxic “friends”,

and the heartbreak;

you’ll be cryin’ all day.

Figure out who you are.

Every mistake, every bad day,

shapes you into

who you are meant to be.

It is all part of the story.

You CAN be what you want to be.

Don’t ever for a minute think you can’t do something

because of the color of your skin,

or your gender, or anything else.

Don’t give up if you really want it.

Enjoy being a kid

but

think first.

Tomorrow’s another day

though it’s not promised.

Have your adventure.

You bring a smile to so many people in this world

and you make everyone laugh

when you tell your silly jokes.

You’re a lot cooler than you think you are

and you’re only getting cooler.

Go pet a cat.

Sincerely,
Me
