Over the weekend from Feb. 15 to Feb. 16, around seven inches of torrential rainfall struck Kentucky. Along with the rain, six inches of snow devastated towns, with more predicted to come.
Many rivers were still recovering from past flooding, prompting them to overflow yet again. The rain, freezing temperatures and catastrophic overflow have caused standing water and road closures to persist throughout the state.
14 people were found dead and over 230 have been rescued. “We must remember, this isn’t just a number — these are Kentuckians who will be missed by their families and loved ones,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said on X
