President Trump’s pick for Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, is facing renewed scrutiny for her lack of experience in education. To date, her only experience is a one year term on the Connecticut State Board of Education.
McMahon’s stated goals for the department are to fight for freedom in educational decisions, protect special needs students as well as partner with parents and teachers.
McMahon faces some opposition on the road to her confirmation, with Democrats on the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee raising questions over the Trump administration’s moves to remove DEI programs as well as her position on school choice options.
