Starting Jan. 27, customers will no longer be able to use Starbucks bathrooms without making a purchase. This reversal is among a multitude of other changes taking effect on Jan. 27, such as the return of condiment bars. It will also update company policy to use sharpies to write customers’ names on their drink cups instead of the printout stickers that are used currently.
This comes after Starbucks recently went through a leadership change and welcomed Brian Niccol as their new CEO. Niccol was hired from Chipotle in 2024 and promised to bring consistency to products as well as reduce the “transactional” feel of Starbucks.
The goal of these measures is to reverse a sharp decline in foot traffic and plummeting stock prices.
