Over 40,000 acres have been destroyed by the wildfires in Los Angeles. The mayhem began on Jan. 1, but firefighters contained the first fire after it reached 8 acres.
Over the span of a few weeks, the fires quickly reignited due to heavy winds, with the largest fire consuming the Palisades. Many suspect the fires originally started due to disposed fireworks from New Year’s celebrations or city negligence to deactivate power lines.
Although firefighters have been working tirelessly to suppress the fires, over 319,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes. Many fundraisers have begun for those affected by the fires and volunteers have delivered hundreds of canned foods and supplies.
