On Feb. 29, a fire raged through a high-rise apartment building in Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. The incident resulted in the death of 43 and the severe injury of 22.
The flame had burned for approximately two hours before it was subdued by local firefighters.
Unfortunately, dangerous fires are not uncommon in the rapidly growing Dhaka, where buildings are commonly not up to safety codes.
“It was a dangerous building with gas cylinders on every floor, even on the staircases,” Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence Director, Brigadier General Main Uddin told reporters.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated. For more information, visit NPR.
