Gebremeskel is extremely immersed in her culture and feels lucky to be able to share it with her friends and family. “I’m fortunate enough to have a really good network of Ethiopian friends who I’m really close with,” Gebremeskel said. “I think that definitely impacts my day to day, because as you begin talking to those people more you’re building a community of people who have a shared identity with you, so part of their identity is just like yours.”

Sampath has some big dreams for the future of Spikeball Club.  “My hope is that the club will keep growing as it has been over the past couple of years, and that one day it will become a staple of Walnut Hills culture,” Sampath said. “I hope Spikeball Club becomes a place where tons of students of different grades and skill levels and backgrounds can all come and have a good time every Friday. I also hope to use this platform to do some good, maybe raise money for charity or provide a place for new students to make friends.”
