Terror Attacks in NY and NJ

On Sept. 18 two bombs rang out across the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City, followed by another string of bombings in New Jersey. By the next day law enforcement had identified a suspect.
Authorities arrested an Afghan individual, Ahmad Khan Rahami, in connection with the attacks.
The attack in New York involved a bomb placed inside a dumpster that wounded 29 people while the bomb in New Jersey was placed on a racecourse for a charity event but did not harm anyone.
Rahami was caught in front of a bar where the owner recognized him from the news and called the police. Soon after the police showed up, Rahami fought back and a firefight and chase ensued. Rahami shot two cops – one in the chest and one who was grazed on the face. Neither injuries were life-threatening.
According to The Washington Post, prosecutors charged Rahami with attempted murder of law enforcement officials and possession of a firearm.
Investigation remains on whether Rahami had any accomplices with the attack.
This bombing comes right after the 15 year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. In both instances, New Yorkers in particular received the brunt of the attacks and have been able to shake off the effects and carry on with their lives.
As 9/11 proved, resilience is key to bouncing back from a setback and the American people have shown this time and time again.
