New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker made history by delivering a 25-hour speech on the Senate floor to protest President Donald Trump’s recent actions.
The speech began on March 31 and finished the evening of April 1, making it the longest recorded Senate speech, a record that South Carolina Sen. Strom Thurmond set 68 years prior.
Booker’s speech specifically targeted Trump’s second presidency and Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), stating that their policies show a “complete disregard for the rule of law, the Constitution and the needs of the American people.”
