Sophia Biesiada, a standout fencer, competed in the Motor City SYC/RCC National & Regional Fencing Tournament on March 1-2 in Waterford, MI, showcasing her remarkable skills and determination.
Biesiada competed in the Y14 Super Youth Category, where over 40 fencers from the USA and Canada competed for a chance to qualify for the USA National Championships in July 2025. Despite fierce competition, Sophia finished 31st in the pool rounds and later secured an impressive win against Zoe Estevez (15-13) in the direct elimination rounds. Unfortunately, she was eliminated by Xinyi Cai (6-15) in the next round.
On Sunday, Biesiada excelled in the Cadet Women’s Saber category, finishing 2nd out of 21 competitors. Her victories included dominant wins. In the final, she was able to secure the silver medal with a final score of 4-15.
Biesiada’s outstanding performance earned her over 90 regional points toward the 2025 USA National Championships.
