On March 4, President Donald Trump delivered the State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress. His speech covered a variety of issues, including energy, the economy and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The speech received a largely partisan response, with Democrats protesting the speech by holding up signs and making verbal objections. However, Republicans lauded it as a message to the rest of the world that America was back on the right track.
Sen. Elissa Slotkin responded to Trump’s address, criticizing his foreign policy stance and “peace through strength” mantra, which she viewed as appeasement toward Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine. She stated that former President Ronald Reagan, who took a strong position against the USSR, would be “rolling in his grave.”
