Marc Fogel, an American teacher who was detained at a Russian airport in June of 2022 after 17 grams of medically prescribed cannabis were found in his luggage, has recently been freed from a Russian hard labor camp.

A recent deal by the Trump administration with the Kremlin released Fogel on Feb. 11 in exchange for returning a Russian citizen who had committed cyber crimes. 

His release came after he was declared wrongfully detained by the US State Department on Dec. 27.
