As the January transfer window of professional soccer comes to a close, moves can be seen around the world. Most major leagues closed their period of bringing in players from other teams on Feb. 3 or Feb. 4.
Teams like Manchester City spent big, with head coach Pep Guardiola bringing in about $223 million worth of reinforcements to help his squad. The team opted for young players who could play an important role coming off of the bench, like striker Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for $61 million.
Other big transfers from around the world included a shock move from Jhon Duran, swapping Aston Villa for a Saudi payday at Al-Nassr; Khvicha Kvaratskhelia making the switch from Napoli to PSG; Mexican international Santi Gimenez leaving Feyenoord to play for AC Milan; and former Celtic hero Jota making a fairytale return on the wing for the Bhoys.
