On Dec. 3, South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol temporarily instituted martial law.
After the declaration, agitated citizens in Seoul protested, demanding Yoon to resign and be investigated.
Opposition parties in South Korea’s parliament are pushing for an impeachment vote. However, to do this, they will need to reach out to members of the president’s own party in order to reach the required two-thirds majority to impeach Yoon.
