Sydnie Barrett

Sydnie Barrett, Managing Editor of Broadcast

In their fifth year as a Chatterbox staff member, Sydnie Barrett is absolutely vibrating with excitement to be the Managing Editor of Broadcast. After years of planning, trial, error, shiny new toys and unfinished projects Barrett is glad to finally have a full team of broadcasters to consistently produce a wide range of content and biweekly news videos.

Barrett started in the WHHS journalism program as a writer and photographer, but quickly found a passion for video. They learned a lot in their time as the Broadcast Section Editor during remote learning, and even more as the Managing Editor of Visual Elements last year.

Barrett’s personal life has had many developments over the last year as well. They took part in programs with ArtWorks and Manifest Drawing Center which led to their work being featured in the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and ArtWorks’ V2 gallery. Now their time is filled with more ArtWorks, CCP classes, an after-school job and co-writing one of this year’s senior high one-act plays.

Barrett wants to study Communication Design and Broadcast Journalism in college at UC + DAAP and does not have a backup plan. Barrett has no plans for after college though, as that is a problem for “Future Syd.” They may put their degrees to good use and be the art director of a magazine; they may open a coffee shop. That is up to “Future Syd” to decide. :)
