The WHHS art club, who previously worked with the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to paint 180 wooden circles for their new critical care emergency unit in early 2020, walked in the Homecoming parade on Friday, Sep. 16.

The art club at WHHS is now offering an art and therapy program at Christ Hospital. This unique opportunity not only allows students to help rehab center patients but also to gain volunteer hours.

Sana Sukhija, ‘24, has been working on this project throughout the summer and this year.

“I was inspired to do this actually from a TikTok I saw earlier last summer,” Sukhija said.

Gaining volunteer hours from this can be as simple as submitting a piece of artwork to their social media, and getting an approved source to verify how much time you spent on this piece.

“Art that others send in for volunteer hours will be hung up in the rehab center to inspire creativity in the patients,” Sukhija said.

Due to the COVID restrictions still in place at the Christ Hospital, only one volunteer will be allowed to go to the hospital each week to inspire and create with the patients.

“This project has been an idea of mine for a while and I am so glad it’s finally coming to life. I love the idea of helping stroke survivors and other rehab patients have fun and be creative,” Sukhija said.
