Trying the TikTok viral baked feta pasta
April 2, 2021
This recipe has gone viral on TikTok, and I had to try it out myself to see if it lived up to its hype. It did. Normally, viral TikTok recipes come across simple in a 60 second video, but in actuality it is complicated, so I was hesitant to try this. Let me tell you, it was even simpler than I expected it to be.
This is one of the easiest, yet tastiest pastas I have ever made, and not just because I am biased towards feta, my all time favorite cheese.
The baked tomatoes add a juiciness to the sauce and the softened feta adds a perfect saltiness to the dish that I didn’t even know it needed.
For all the pasta and cheese lovers out there, this recipe is for you. Many grocery stores have been selling out of blocks of feta cheese because of this recipe blowing up on TikTok. You have to try it.
Staying inside all the time, sometimes it is hard to find things to do to occupy your time. Trying new recipes is a great activity to do when stuck at home, and after, you get the reward of eating your masterpiece.
Here is what you will need:
- 1 box of pasta
- 4 cups of cherry tomatoes
- 2-4 cloves of garlic
- 1 block of feta cheese
- Olive oil
- Fresh basil
- Crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
How to make:
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit.
Step 2: Place your tomatoes into an oven safe dish. Add in a large drizzle of olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper, and toss to coat.
Step 3: Place the block of feta in the center of the dish with tomatoes, drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle salt, pepper, oregano and crushed red pepper flakes (to taste) over the top of everything.
Step 4: Bake for 30-40 minutes until the tomatoes are bursting from their skins.
Step 5: When there is 15 minutes left on your timer, start boiling a pot of water for your pasta. Once at a boil, add the entire contents of the box of pasta and let cook for 10 minutes, or until soft. Drain the pasta.
Step 6: Remove the dish from the oven. Mush and mix the tomatoes and feta until it becomes a sauce-like consistency.
Step 7: Add the sauce to the pasta and serve with fresh basil.
