Early 2000s athleisure clothing is surging in popularity across social media, marking the end of the trend of matching Lululemon and Alo workout sets.
“We’re not looking at running as competitive; it’s not about shaving off seconds,” creative director of athleisure brand Literary Sport Jackie McKeown said. “It’s about enjoying the practice in the same way that you would enjoy a novel or a poem.”
Gym-goers are now leaning towards vintage and thrifted sportswear, such as oversized tees, parachute pants, old tennis skirts and low rise shorts.
