Met Gala faces backlash

Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sánchez Bezos, sponsored the 2026 Met Gala, which received backlash from protestors who staged a boycott outside the Met Gala with signs calling out to “Tax the Rich”.

The protesting was a result of intense debate over Amazon worker’s labor conditions, Bezos’s connections to the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and anti-billionaire sentiments.

Many called out the event for being out of touch and compared it to the “Hunger Games,” saying that the money earned from the event should go towards helping those less fortunate.
