United States special forces soldier Master Sergeant Gannon Ken Van Dyke was arrested on Apr. 23 for stealing and misusing government information, in addition to theft and fraud, in relation to the early-2026 raid that arrested former Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.
Van Dyke is accused of placing bets on the popular online wagering site Polymarket that amassed him winnings of nearly $400,000.
Van Dyke, stationed at Fort Bragg, was involved in the planning of the operation.
He will make his first court appearance in North Carolina.
This historic indictment marks the first time U.S. officials have brought criminal charges against someone in regards to wagers made on online gambling sites.
