Johannes Hoesfolt Klaebo, the Norwegian cross-country skier known by his nickname, “King Klaebo,” won his fourth gold medal of the Milan-Cortina games and ninth gold medal overall to become the winningest Winter Olympian in history.
The medal came in the 4 x 7.5 kilometer relay, which Klaebo anchored against the French and Italian teams, who came in at the second and third spots, respectively.
Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store even made the trip to the Italian Alps to watch Klaebo make Winter Olympic history.
This came after Klaebo had already clinched gold in the men’s 10 kilometer race on Friday, which briefly tied him with three other Norwegians for the overall Winter Olympic medal count.
