Hundreds of WHHS students gathered together on Feb. 4 to voice their opposition against the actions of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE.
The national debate over immigration enforcement sparked nationwide protests, such as the one at WHHS. This enthusiasm was influenced by the protest in Minneapolis, after the shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

At the start of fourth bell, students left classrooms and gathered outside Blair Circle carrying handmade signs with messages such as “not about POLITICS, it’s about HUMANITY” and “abolish ICE.” The students’ messages reflected the national concern about ICE operations, following many high-profile incidents of ICE that have left many distraught around the country.
The WHHS walkout focused on student expression and visibility and expressing their First Amendment rights by gathering peacefully during the school day.
