On Saturday, Jan. 3, President Donald Trump and the United States launched a “large-scale strike” on Venezuela, resulting in the removal of leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife from the country, removing Maduro from power.
Hours after the military operation, President Trump stated at a news conference that the U.S. will take control of Venezuela until a “proper transition can take place.”
It was left vague about who specifically will be running the country, but President Trump stated that the team of U.S. executives stepping in includes Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, and Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, who has spoken with the current vice president, Delcy Rodriguez.
