Celtic F.C. announced Dec. 3 that previous Columbus Crew manager Wilfried Nancy has been appointed as manager of the soccer club.
The Bhoys’ manager Brendan Rodgers handed in his resignation on Oct. 27, following a 3-1 defeat to Heart of Midlothian, who were 8 points ahead of Celtic F.C. and in first place in the Scottish Premiership. Principal Shareholder Dermot Desmond criticized Rodgers, saying “[His words and actions] have contributed to a toxic atmosphere around the club and fuelled hostility towards members of the executive team and the Board.”

Celtic F.C. appointed former manager Martin O’Neill as interim manager, who won 6 out of 7 league games, bringing Celtic F.C. up to level on points with Hearts, nine points clear of bitter rivals Rangers. Through his leadership, they also beat Feyenoord in the Europa League 3-1.
Nancy has an extensive record in Major League Soccer, managing CF Montreal from 2021-2022 before joining Columbus Crew.
Columbus Crew will now be looking for a new manager after losing to rivals FC Cincinnati in the first round of the MLS playoffs.
