After months of campaigning and early voting, thousands of voters determined the president of 2025.
Republican Donald Trump amassed a majority in the electoral and popular vote, surpassing Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party. Harris was quick to congratulate Trump and confirmed to her supporters that her work would continue outside the White House.
Republicans working with Trump will control the United States Senate and possibly the House of Representatives, which increases the party’s influence in Washington.
Trump will officially take on the role of president on Jan. 20, once he is sworn in. He cannot not exercise presidential power until he is sworn in.
