On election night in Ohio, one of the most closely watched races involved a senate seat that both Democrats and Republicans were striving for.
Incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown faced challenger Bernie Moreno, a Colombian-born businessman who earned the endorsement of the current president-elect, Donald Trump.
The race was one of the most expensive in the nation; a total of 400 million dollars were spent, with outside groups contributing nearly half of those funds.
Ultimately, Moreno emerged victorious, winning nearly 50.3% of the vote compared to Brown’s 46.3%. This victory was crucial in Republican efforts to take back the Senate, which they last controlled in 2021 and are predicted to regain control of in this election cycle.
