SENIOR Madhulika Kastury

Over 7.5 million tourists explore the nation of India each year, according to India’s Ministry of Tourism. Of that number, there were several Walnut Hills High School students who visited over the summer, including SENIOR Madhulika Kastury.

Kastury, who has family in the country, visits India about every other year, seeing relatives and traveling through the country. However, this summer she spent nearly the entire month of the July there, partaking in special events and occasions.

“I went to [see] my family. It was my great grandfather’s 100 birthday, and so that was a really big deal,” Kastury said. “And I also went to do a medical camp there.”

While she said that the highlights of the trip were celebrating with her great grandfather and the medical camp, Kastury also enjoyed exploring the cities around her.

Remaining in southern India, she toured three main cities: Hyderabad, Puttaparthi and Rajahmundry. Kastury emphasized how they show the cultural diversity that accompanies being in India, which always make her trips to the country so interesting.
