Sarah Wilson, Managing Editor of Visual Elements

In her third year as a Chatterbox staff member, Sarah Wilson is excited to work as the Managing Editor of Visual Elements. Wilson’s goals this year include building her photography skills and emphasizing visual storytelling in all elements of the paper.

Wilson was previously the Section Editor of Opinions for the 2022-2023 school year and a writer for the features section during the 2021-2022 school year.

Wilson is also the secretary for the Student Congress Class of 2025, a member of the WHHS Advanced Steel Band and a member of Sources of Strength.

She hopes to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field.

In her spare time, Wilson enjoys reading, being outdoors and volunteering at the Cincinnati Zoo.

Issue 24:
Ohio did not pass Issue 24 which would have increased the income tax from 1.8% to 2.1%, generating $40 to $50 million. This increase was proposed by Cincinnati Action for Housing Now and it would have helped pay for construction, maintenance and services for affordable houses. Opposition to Issue 24 was that the plans for allocating the raised money were not explained enough and there were disagreements on how the increase in income tax would lead to more affordable housing.

In various circumstances, the effects of students’ digital footprints have had negative consequences, even locally. In 2020, Xavier University rescinded their offer to an incoming student after accusations of the student using racial slurs on social media.
